Shell - e - brate with Tiffany

When my sister Liza told me that Tiffany was wanting a mermaid party I raised my hand and took on the task of designing and making everything with help from my girls and of course grandma Beth.

Tiffy Two shoes as we call he does not say much and is usually quiet around me. Slowly over the few weeks before hand I was showing her all the treat that had been made. To see her face light up was priceless. I had a mermaid board on Pinterest that helped a lot ,http://pinterest.com/brittaglitter/mermaid-party/

This was Tiffany's first "real " party before starting school. We wanted a homemade party with all the delights but did not want it to look like it was staged and bought. The weather was mermaid perfect and we had a great time as you will see in the photos.

Mermaid milk, we dipped the rim of the glass in icing and then sprinkles

Instead of a party table and chairs we cut our 25 clam shells with a long picnic blanket.
Then we could use the shells later for party games.

Tooth picks with pearl beads hot glued on the end.

Ahhhh I love this, I suggested to Tiffany's father to dress up.
Robert came as a deep sea diver and loved every second. I reckon that is such a fun idea.

Rainbow Jelly and bits

Have you seen all the rainbow jelly bits everywhere.
Such a simple idea and so easy to make. Maybe a little time is needed but they look great and taste just as good.
The whole rainbow theme for parties has taken off and here are a few ideas.
instructions attached for hours of fun.

Made for my neice Kara to sell at school to raise money for charity.
They raised the most money and won bet stand design.

I used little jars from a $2 store and just did 2 colors for a little Tea party.

Hi Everyone,

Sorry about the slack blogging the past few months.
I am now back and full of ideas.
I do have a good excuse, I had baby number 6.
Damien was born June 10th and a big baby at 4360grams,
It has taken me a while to get my head around 6 children.
Since Damien was born we have had a few great parties and i hve spent many hours feeding and surfing the nett.

When Our daughter Elyssa wanted a circus party it was a perfect unisex party with bright bold colors.
We decided on the red, white, yellow and blue. The clown was booked and production of the bunting and favor hats was started. The invitations were a laminated circus entrance ticket that hung around the child's neck.
The favor bags were great felt party hats that i found in a $2 dollar store and once filled with sweets , and circus toys we sealed them with cardboard that i had covered in red felt, sort of like your own mini pinata.
Elyssa's cake was made by my girlfriend Wendy from "that's my cake".
In total we had 35 children running after the clown and playing bobbing apples. It worked out to be a great and very successful party. And just the start of Elyssa's great imagination when it comes to parties, Her next party was a belly dancing party.

An Island Christmas

With The New Year starting tomorrow morning and Christmas has just been I thought I would share our Christmas table with you. Aussie style, minus the snow and rain.
With a beautiful 25 oC and a light covering of clouds it was a perfect day all round. Sitting in our front yard on the island under the marquee that comes out for all parties and events, boats going past and kids either running around or riding the new bikes.

We had 24 for Christmas lunch, seafood, ham, salads and so many treats just looking at it made you feel full.
Handmade cracker made by the kids and stuffed with goodies, 50 hanging pine cones from the marquee's roof as a cheap and fun decorations, home grown hibiscus as table decorations and plenty of giggles and laughter.

I am excited for the new year as I am now 16 weeks pregnant with baby number 6. Shock horror and mouth dropped open I am now over the sickness and the shock.

City girl hits the country

I just thought that I would give you a little more insight to Cabbage Tree Island and our family life.
Our island has no water except for the tanks now when we moved in here 8 months ago the tanks were almost empty. With winter now over they did fill but with a family our size that does not last long. We are still trained like city kids, water just runs freely.
Needless to say a couple of weeks ago we ran out. A kind neighbour from across the water said we could hook up to his tap and pump water into our tanks. 600m of pipe and a few friends to help we sunk the pipe on the bed of the river with bricks and marked it with the Australian flags so boats don't ripe our pipe out.
32 hours of the tap running we are now 3/4 full. You wouldn't believe it the day were were laying the pipe it actually started to rain.

Both Chris and I want the children to understand that living in the country is different to the city. We grow avocados and have 500 trees, chickens have been bought and we now get a dozen a day. we box them up and send them to family and friends to earn a little pocket money and holiday fund.

So far we love the country life with a LOT of funny stories and some not so funny. A friend said I should write a book called "The misadventures of Britta's Island". Not such a bad idea. With getting Partylicious up and running again other huge things in the future ( TBA ) it might have to be great idea for now.

Happy 10.10.10

Our daughter Sienna asked me some time ago if we could have a party on 10.10.10 at 10 am.
Great idea. Out went the invitation of a Partylicious lollipop.
Theme colors were orange, lime,pink and yellow.

It was a wonderful day with the rain now gone decorations out the party was on its way.
Everyone turned up to our island either by boat or we picked them up from the mainland.
Even the boat was dressed up for the day with 15 meters of homemade bunting.

The kids had a lolly buffet after the sack races but to get the favor bag to fill with sweets we hid them on one of the 500 Avocado trees.

By the time everyone left at 2 we were being asked if we were going to have a party for 11.11.11.
Answer to that is absolutely.

Halloween 2010

I love Halloween and seeing the kids faces but don't like the blood and guts part of it. In Australia we are just coming around to the idea of Halloween but parents still need to educate children on the manners of Halloween door knocking.
In the past couple of years I have found that the older children go out without costumes and before the young children. The lollies plates so kindly left are emptied into a pillow slip.
Should we have an age limit to it? What about nut allergies and kids asking if they can have something different because they don't like the choice?
All of the above does not dampen my spirits yet, and I will still get out the pumpkins and webs to decorate the front door.

Wedding Season is in the air

With spring in the air and the warm weather upon us it's wedding season. Yippee

A good friend of mine is getting married on Friday. We call her a family manager... "She" is Karen and my sisters last nanny for 6 years. Karen has been at all 6 births in our family and one of her own.
Now its her special day. A total of 10 children are in her wedding party and the theme is lilac and beige.

We know it will be a beautiful day. Preparations and planning have been happening for about a year with every detail thought and dreamt about.

Tea Party anyone

When our daughter Monique wanted a Tea Party I was so excited to design something old fashioned with a twist of modern day. Fairy booked , smartie flowers made and baskets all ready for the 30 guests. We decided on pinks and blues. The favor was a hand made flower in the theme color with a tasty centre of smarties. The house we lived in at the time was not suitable for a party so decide on the local park and gazebo. It soon became our known party venue for the other children as you will see in the coming weeks.

Bianca's 7th Tea Party

This weekend we made the trip down from the island to attend my niece's 7th birthday party. 30 little girls beading and decorating cupcakes. It was such a success. My sister had it at a cafe called Sotto on West in Crows Nest (Sydney), the food was just fantastic and the service was not only professional but fast and friendly. Party food was all made on site in the cafes kitchen, home made sausage rolls to fruit skewers for the kids to duck and chicken for the hungry adults.
The girls were kept busy beading a necklace and bracelet , boxes and boxes of delicious looking beads kept being unpacked that I just wanted to sit down and join in. The entertainment didn't stop there. Out came the cupcakes and all the sprinkles you could think of and we had hundred and thousands everywhere.
A 2 hour party flew past and by the looks on the girls faces they went home full of food and excited. I would recommend both the beading and cafe. 10/10. Please email me if you would like more information

Being an almost first time blogger. I actually feel like I am writing in a diary or to a close girlfriend.
Slightly strange yet refreshing. I hope I don't let my would be friends down.

My name is Britta with a knick name of Glitter. Mother of 5, wife of 1, domestic goddess/ home help, not to mention all of the side jobs. Homework teacher, craft teacher once a week at the school, chef to the masses and creator of all things that sparkle in partylicious.
We live on an island right on the east coast of Australia. We have 500 avocado trees, not that i know what to do with them. This is a huge sea change for the Ford family. Having just moved from the hustle and bustle of Sydney, closing my shop that I loved because baby number 5 came along, ( Brayden)

I started Partylicious some years ago now after the need of wanting a creative output and to find something slightly different for my children's special party days. Sick of the mass produced plastic garbage I wanted a little bit of class without it screaming "Barbie" or " Thomas".

So in 2004 Partylicious was my 5th baby after just having baby number 4 Logan. As you will see over the next few posts in my very new new blog I have tried to be both creative and different. Its funny though because you think something is original and your design and then around the corner someone somewhere is also thinking they are original as well with the same idea but a slightly different colour.

Many times over the past few year I have had people copy and recreate my work, some have done it badly and others have done it well. For the ones that have done it badly I hope know one actually thinks it was me. I am sure Amy Atlas knows what I mean. Not that I am comparing my work to the very talented Amy. Such talent should be bottled and put into a time capsule.
